Geary Boulevard last had a major upgrade in 1961, as Eisenhower was leaving office. This urban highway through the Richmond neighborhood no longer serves those who rely on it most.

This morning, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and the Department of Public works did a "ribbon cutting" ceremony (minus an actual ribbon) of San Francisco's first protected intersection, located at 9th and Division in SoMa.
