Over the next month, the City of Oakland will create an innovative new pedestrian space in downtown by closing Telegraph Ave south of 16th St to cars. The new Latham Square Plaza will be populated with planters, seating, landscaping, and mobile retail. One design element is to paint the street, and the City is hosting a community painting event on Saturday, July 27. This all-ages event will be a unique opportunity to take part in a large scale public art project, and help beautify a key downtown intersection.
