In 2013, the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) opened its doors and now oversees Caltrans, the CHP, the DMV and the High-Speed Rail Authority, as well as many other functions. The agency brings a cabinet-level focus to achieving mobility, safety and air quality objectives for the state transportation system.
